Ministers

JIM BARNETTE, TEACHING PASTOR

A graduate of Samford University, Jim received his Ph.D. from Southern Seminary.  He currently serves as Professor of Religion and Director of Preministerial Scholars at Samford. In the latter role, he developed the Preministerial Scholars program through which ministerial students of high academic and professional promise receive merit scholarships and participate in a rigorous program of training.  A member of Brookwood Baptist Church since 1995, Jim joined the staff as Interim Pastor in early 2008 and was called as Teaching Pastor on October 12, 2008.  He is married to Deanna and they have two children, Hannah and Nicholas.




TIM CLARK, DIRECTIONAL PASTOR

After receiving his bachelor of science degree in 1977 from Campbellsville College , Tim graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in 1984 and completed post-graduate work at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. He has served in pastoral and ministerial positions in Tennessee, Indiana, Florida, and Kentucky, most recently Associate Pastor of Faith Formation at Central Baptist Church Bearden in Knoxville, TN. Tim is married to Brenda and they have three children: Amy Lynn Clark, Abby Sellers, and Tyler Clark; They also have three grandchildren: Hannah, Bailey, and Nash. He enjoys farming, gardening,
and fishing.

SYLVIA PAGE, EARLY CHILDHOOD MINISTER

Sylvia earned her bachelor of arts degree from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta. She worked in industrial marketing and recruiting for Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA, and for the Bryant Bureau Placement Firm in Jackson, MS. For 20+ years, Sylvia has been involved in volunteer work with the Birmingham Junior League, Jefferson County Medical Auxiliary, Birmingham Charity League, Brookwood Forest Elementary School, Sav-A- Life, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Briarwood Christian School, Cornerstone School, and SAFE.  Sylvia and husband Frank have three children: Cameron and Foster, and Elise Page Serota. They also have two Granddaughters: Hazel and Edith Serota.
 
 
  
MATTEA PAVLICK, MINISTER TO CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES
Mattea joined the Brookwood Staff in November of 2011. Before coming to BBC she was Minister to Youth and Children at First Baptist Church in Ahoskie, NC. In July of 2011, Mattea, and her family, moved back to Alabaster, AL after 20 months away.  Before they moved, Mattea completed a Masters of Education degree at the University of Montevallo (AL) and spent the next 3 years teaching high school history and English before becoming a full-time mom.  She is married to Brian, a Multimedia Account Executive for The Birmingham News Multimedia and they have two children, Addison and Luke. Mattea loves spending time with her family, planning events, baking and Alabama Football. She is always available and open for suggestions to improve our Children's ministry here at BBC.
 
 
 
CALEB YODER, MINISTER TO YOUTH
Caleb joined the staff in August 2010.  He is currently working towards his Masters of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary.  He graduated from Southeastern Bible College with a Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Theology.  Caleb knows Birmingham well, having graduated from Mountain Brook High School, and is excited to have the opportunity to be back in Birmingham serving the kids in this community.  Caleb is passionate about seeing the kids in Birmingham come to know Jesus in a radical and life-changing way.  In his spare time Caleb enjoys playing sports, especially basketball.  He is a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team, but his true sports love is the University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball.
 
 
 
 
MICAH SIMPSON, MINISTER TO COLLEGE STUDENTS

Micah joined the Brookwood staff in May 2009 and graduated from Beeson Divinity School in December 2009.  He earned an undergraduate degree in accounting and nearly completed a fine arts degree from Georgia Southwestern University in 2006. A native of New Orleans, Micah is married to Heather Burgess Simpson who teaches kindergarten at Hueytown Elementary School.  In his spare time, Micah is an award-winning glass artist who also enjoys music and sports.
