Builders for Christ 2008 Project

A team of 39 from Brookwood Baptist Church became construction missionaries for the 28th year of building churches in areas of our nation which are in great need of drawing closer to God. This year, we completed most of the wood framing and started the electrical work for a 12,700 sq. ft. building as a relocation of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Logan, Ohio (photo of their current facility is on the right).  Their congregation has doubled in size in the past five years and desperately needed more space to continue their success with expanding God's Kingdom. We were joined by other Christians from Prattville, Gardendale, and Fairhope, Alabama; from Ripon, Wisconsin; and from Eustis, Florida, forming a 70-person team.

Ebenezer has been very effective in leading adults and children to accept Christ as Savior, as well as with outreach to a broad, rural community.  Their commitment and spirit were an inspiration to each of us.  There is no doubt that they will successfully continue God's work with this new building tool.

Our tasks including building more than 1000 ft. of walls, installing over 100 floor joists and trusses, installing 237 roof trusses, and 150 sheets of roof decking. We installed the cans for five large electrical panels and most of the outlet and switch boxes. Our cooks prepared about 1500 meals in an onsite kitchen and served them under our large tent.

Appreciation is given to our entire congregation for your essential part in supporting this mission work, both financially and with your prayers. Many of you took care of our tasks at home to allow us to go. Several of you helped with tool maintenance and loading.

This year, our Builders for Christ network will construct additional churches in Wisconsin and Ohio, and one in Chalmette, Louisiana.  IN all, about 1500 volunteers will participation from 100 congregations located in 13 states. When complete, these will increase the total to 47 new or expanding building tools to nurture God's work in 15 states. Let us pray for each Builders for Christ team as they come over a 13-week period.

Please consider joining this large effort to construct church buildings. We are partners with God in communities throughout our nation who have a low participation rate in His ministries. Each of those we have helped have had much less participation than the Brookwood neighborhoods. There are many more successful churches in need of our network's assistance than we can service.
