Builders for Christ 2009 ProjectBrookwood Builders for Christ journeyed to Eudora, Kansas, to work on the First Southern Baptist Church, on May 23-30, 2009.

Most of you are aware that the Baptist Builders for Christ visited our church. They came from as far away as Georgia, Alabama, Ohio, and Overland Park -- at their own expense. They arrived here Friday evening, November 7, and spent all day Saturday making a presentation to the church leadership, explaining how they plan to expand God's Kingdom by supplying up to 700 volunteers to provide labor and expertise to lead us in the construction of the new church building. This group included two architects; experts on financing, construction, engineering; and a logistics specialist. Baptist Builders for Christ -- It is their ministry to assist in church constructions. They have successfully completed 28 churches. These people come from all over the United States to fulfill their ministry in missions. They provide to us complete architectural and building engineering plans. After we have a concrete slab for the building in place, they will come in teams of 100 to 150 volunteers for one to two weeks to do the different phases of the constructions, i.e., the first team will put up the structure of the building, the next team will install the roof and building exterior, then interior framing, electrical, plumbing, etc. They will begin this process in May and continue until August or September. They do their own cooking onsite and pay for their own food, lodging, and transportation. Truly God inspired and heartfelt dedication to their mission work! After an excellent presentation, it was decided by the members of the church leadership that were present that we should proceed with the Baptist Builders for Christ. The building they designed willl fill our needs until we have raised the funds for the next phase. This building will be approximately 11,900 sq. ft. The original discussion was for a much larger building but, due to the finances available, this smaller building will provide the necessary spaces and is designed to do necessary expansions when required by the growth of our church.
