The Firehouse Shelter is one of Brookwood's long-term mission opportunities.  Volunteers work from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., preparing lunch on each fifth Thursday and second Monday of the month.  Coordinator: Angie Sanders (967-4442).

Medical Apartments Ministry (Caring Hands)

Directed by the Birmingham Baptist Association, the "Caring Hands" Medical Apartment Ministry meets the needs of people who are experiencing a medical crisis in their life. Located at three hospitals (UAB, Trinity Medical Center, and BMC Princeton), the apartments are available to family members (from outside the greater Birmingham area) of patients with long-term stays in local medical facilities.  Brookwood sponsors an apartment at the UAB Townhouse facility.  Coordinator:  Loretta Littlejohn (967-4245).  Click here for more details.
 
Linn Park Ministry to the Homeless

Brookwood currently participates on the second Friday night of each month, partnering with Harvest Community Church, Dawson Memorial Baptist, and Oak Mountain Presbyterian.  Families, Sunday School classes, and individuals have an open invitation to join this ministry.  Coordinator: Judy Theriot (967-0426).  Click here for more information.
 
M-Power Ministries

Partnering with Dawson, Vestavia Hills, and New Hope churches, Brookwood provides funding and volunteers to work in literacy missions, after-school tutoring, a medical clinic, tax assistance, benevolence, holiday aid, family programs, and more.  Click here for more information.
 
Greater Birmingham Ministries

Brookwood regularly contributes funds to Greater Birmingham Ministries, an agency that helps individuals with utility, medical, and rent bills during tough times. They also provide help for Christmas gifts, clothing, medicine, and food.  Call 326-6821 for more information or click here.

Discovery Clubs
Birmingham, AL

Discovery Clubs take free, after-school Bible clubs to second through fifth grade children on public school campuses--a modern-day mission field.  This fun-filled hour consists of a snack, Bible lesson, memory verses, praise and worship through singing, dancing, crafts, small group prayer, and mentoring time.  Local churches sponsor these clubs through prayer, financial contributions, and volunteer support. First Light Women's Shelter
