Our Purpose
A Mission Moving Forward, Growing in Grace
Brookwood Baptist Church began as a mission, and Brookwood continues the mission, moving forward by growing in grace.
Life Verse:
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. (2 Peter 3:18)
Vision Statement:
To be a worshipping, missional community of grace that grows in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mission Statement:
To glorify God through sharing the grace and knowledge of Christ with the world and with one another.
THE GROWING POINTS
The words highlighted above from 2 Peter 3:18 are the key words that flesh out the growing points of our church body which help us fulfill our mission:
1. Our Ministry: The Grace of Christ
Guiding Verse: Ephesians 2:8-10
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God... For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
- Growing in grace to the unsaved.
- Growing in grace to those we serve.
- Growing in grace to our family of faith.
- Growing in grace to let God work through us.
2. Our Discipline: The Knowledge of Christ
Guiding Verse: Ephesians 4:13
...until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
- Growing in knowledge of Christ the Word.
- Growing in knowledge of God's written word.
- Growing in knowledge of sound doctrine.
- Growing in knowledge of spiritual life.
- Growing in knowledge of being in Christ.
3. Our Worship: The Glory of Christ
Guiding Verse: 1 Chronicles 16:29
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
