Memorial Garden
The new Memorial Garden of Brookwood Baptist Church was dedicated in a special ceremony following morning worship on Sunday, April 13, 2003. Spearheaded by Lawrence and Lillian Corley, the garden has been a work-in-progress for about a year and graces the front entrance of the property. In addition to its many trees, shrubs, and plants, the garden features walking paths and benches so that individuals may go there for meditation, prayer, Bible study, and simple enjoyment. Lillian shares, "It has already been a ministry to the community as every Saturday that I have worked in the garden, a neighbor or passer-by stops to talk about it." Hopefully, the garden will serve as a mode of outreach to the community. The horticulture featured in the garden includes Southern Shield Ferns, Flowering Quince, Native Azalea, George Taber and Pink Ruffle Azalea, Virginia Sweetspire, Spirea Arguta, Virburnum, Sasanqua Camellias, Camellia Japonica "Ju-Dee," Forsythia, Oakleaf Hydrangea, French Hydrangeas, Cotoneaster Franchetti, Winter Honeysuckle, Okame Flowering Cherry, Kousa Dogwoods, American Beech, October Glory Red Maple, and Japanese Maple. Presently, the impatiens are in bloom!
